At the Court of Appeal in Abuja, the EFCC’s request led to a bench warrant for the arrest of the former governor issued by Justice Nwite on April 17.
However, the former governor, represented by his legal team led by Abdulwahab Mohammed, SAN, has been contesting the court’s jurisdiction to issue the arrest warrant and other related decisions.
The former governor also opposed his arrest, citing an earlier Kogi State High Court order that had prevented the EFCC from arresting or prosecuting him over corruption allegations. However, this order was later nullified by the Court of Appeal.
