Former Nigerian Green Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Fregene, has passed away after a long illness. His death was announced by his close friend and ex-teammate, Segun Odegbami, in a heartfelt message on Facebook on Sunday, October 13.
Fregene, who had been on life support for a week, died surrounded by his wife, Tina, and two of his children. Odegbami expressed his gratitude to all who supported Fregene during his illness, offering thanks on behalf of Fregene’s family, friends, and the Nigerian football community.
Fregene, affectionately known as “Apo,” was a revered figure in Nigerian football. He is survived by his wife and children. May his soul rest in peace.
