Enugu police have arrested a father who allegedly took his son to a native doctor for fortification. The boy died during the process, which involved being buried alive.

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested native doctor Enuwa Odugu, 48, and Uwakwe Eze, 67, for allegedly conspiring in the murder of Uwakwe’s 26-year-old son, Chikwado Celestine Eze. Reports suggest that Chikwado, who had recently obtained a visa to travel abroad, was taken to the native doctor for rituals intended to fortify him with charms.

During the ritual, Chikwado Celestine Eze was buried in a coffin and unfortunately died in the process. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and his body was taken to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The native doctor, Enuwa Odugu, confessed to the crime, claiming Chikwado’s death resulted from his failure to follow certain ritualistic rules. The case is under investigation, and the suspects will be brought to court once the investigation is complete.
