At least two people have died and six others have been injured in a shooting that occurred on Halloween night in downtown Orlando, Florida. Orlando Police received reports of the incident around 1 a.m. and quickly responded to the scene, holding a press conference early Friday morning.
Authorities confirmed the deaths of two individuals and injuries to six others, with victims ranging in age from 19 to 39. A 17-year-old suspect has been taken into custody.
At the time of the shooting, approximately 100 officers were present in the downtown area. While a motive for the shooting has not been disclosed, police noted that the gunman moved deliberately through the crowd, passing by several officers while armed with a handgun.
The unnamed suspect has a previous arrest record, including an arrest for grand theft in 2023.
