Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband of Serena Williams, shared on Thanksgiving that he underwent surgery to remove potentially cancerous thyroid nodules. He posted hospital photos alongside pictures of his daughters, Olympia, 7, and Adira, 15 months.
Ohanian explained that he had been monitoring suspicious nodules on his thyroid for four years and recently had half of it removed after a biopsy showed the nodules were likely to become cancerous. He noted his personal connection to cancer, mentioning that his mother had breast cancer at his age and later died from brain cancer.
He expressed his strong dislike for cancer and confirmed that the surgery went well. Ohanian shared his relief, stating he was thankful for the news that the removed tissue was indeed full of potentially dangerous nodules.
