Okonjo-Iweala secures a second term as Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been reappointed as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) for a second term.

In a statement on X, the WTO announced that her reappointment will take effect on September 1, 2025.

Okonjo-Iweala, a former Minister of Finance, became the WTO’s seventh Director-General on March 1, 2021, making history as the first woman and the first African to lead the organization.
