Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali was seen escorted by rebels in Damascus on Sunday, December 8, reportedly heading to a hotel to transfer government authority.
In a video, Al-Jalali, surrounded by armed men, is seen entering a black SUV. A man in the video claims the prime minister is heading to the Four Seasons Hotel to hand over the country’s institutions to the Free Army.
Earlier, Al-Jalali stated his intention to ensure the functioning of public institutions and the safety of citizens.
Rebel fighters declared Damascus “liberated” in a televised statement and were seen celebrating at the Syrian presidential palace, firing guns into the air near the southern gate of the palace grounds.
