Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his managerial career at Manchester City will be his final club job. After spending eight-and-a-half successful years at the Etihad, leading City to six Premier League titles and numerous other trophies, Guardiola revealed in an exclusive interview with Spanish chef Dani Garcia that he will not take charge of any other club after leaving City.
Despite a challenging period, with City having won only one of their last eight games across all competitions, Guardiola signed a contract extension until 2027 last month, extending his tenure with the four-time Premier League champions beyond a decade.
Guardiola shared that he has no plans to manage another club, stating, “I’m not going to manage another team. I wouldn’t have the energy… The thought of starting somewhere else and going through all the training process… No, no, no! Maybe a national team, but that’s different.”
He emphasized that after his time at City, he plans to reflect on his achievements and evaluate what could have been done better, just like chefs who travel to other countries to improve their craft. He admitted, “Stopping would do me good.”
Looking ahead to his retirement, Guardiola shared that he plans to focus on personal growth, including learning French, dedicating time to playing golf, and even learning to cook simple dishes.
Guardiola’s decision to make Manchester City his last managerial role marks the end of an era at the club, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest football managers of all time.
