UK-based pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has dismissed comments made by British Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, about the societal issues in Nigeria, arguing that such problems are not unique to the country. Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Adegboyega highlighted similar challenges in the UK, including 78,000 reported cases of phone and bag snatching between 2023 and 2024, high rates of violence, and black youths being overrepresented in UK prisons and mental health facilities.
Badenoch, in an earlier interview, shared her negative experiences with the Nigerian police, including allegations of theft, contrasting them with her positive encounters with British police. Adegboyega countered, stating that while Nigeria faces challenges, it is a young nation compared to Britain, and dismissing all progress is unfair. He also referenced SPAC Nation’s work in sending young people to prestigious institutions like Harvard and Cambridge to emphasize positive strides in the Nigerian community in the UK.
