The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, received a warm welcome upon his return home following his release from Kuje prison. Bello was greeted by his successor, Usman Ododo, and a crowd of jubilant supporters.
In a video circulating online, Ododo and others were seen celebrating his return.
Bello was granted bail on Thursday by Justice MaryAnne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. The bail was set at N500 million, with the condition that Bello provides three sureties who own properties in prime areas of Abuja, including Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.
Additionally, the judge ordered Bello to surrender his passport and prohibited him from leaving Nigeria without prior approval.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Bello alongside Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu on a 16-count charge, including conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and unlawful possession of property.
