Renowned Mexican wrestler Rey Mysterio Sr., the uncle of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio Jr. and great-uncle of WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio, has passed away at 66. Born Miguel Angel Lopez Dias, he had a career spanning several Mexican wrestling promotions, including Pro Wrestling Revolution, Tijuana Wrestling, and the World Wrestling Association, where he debuted in 1976.
Rey Mysterio Sr. won the WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship and the WWA Tag Team Championship alongside his nephew. This loss follows the recent passing of Rey Mysterio Jr.’s father and Dominik’s grandfather, Roberto Gutierrez, on November 17, at the age of 76.
