Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has addressed an AI-generated image of himself that recently went viral on social media, depicting him as an alhaji.
Speaking during the first Holy Ghost Night of the year on Saturday, January 4, Adeboye commented on the controversial image, which showed him dressed in Islamic attire and appearing to be in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The image sparked widespread reactions after it surfaced online in late December.
Originally shared by X user @Sarkideyforyou, the post, captioned “Pastor Adeboye may Allah guide you to the right path,” gained significant traction, amassing over 3.8 million views, 1,500 reposts, 1,800 comments, and 4,000 likes as of December 22, 2024.
While addressing the increasing presence of mockers, Adeboye predicted that many of them would not survive the year. With a smile, he acknowledged the image, saying, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.”
