The Federal Government has threatened to revoke the licenses of oil marketers hoarding petrol amid ongoing fuel shortages in several states, particularly in the North.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) warned that filling stations involved in selling petrol to black market traders would face penalties.
This warning was issued during an inspection in Abuja, where officials emphasized the safety risks of such practices. Despite the government’s efforts, including NNPCL’s explanation that the scarcity is due to vessel discharge issues and bad weather, fuel shortages persist in many northern states.
