Three killed in Israeli airstrike were emergency workers, Lebanon says. Israel says it targeted terrorists

According to the CNN-An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon killed three emergency workers and wounded two others, according to Lebanese authorities.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health condemned the attack as a violation of international law, as it was the second targeting of an ambulance team within 12 hours. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed the strike targeted and “eliminated terrorists” from the Amal movement, a Hezbollah-aligned Shia group.

In retaliation, Hezbollah fired missiles at the Kiryat Shmona settlement in northern Israel. The IDF reported that around 50 projectiles were launched from Lebanon, with most intercepted.

Israeli forces also conducted further strikes on Hezbollah positions. Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, condemned the airstrike as a violation of international law and called for an emergency meeting with international representatives.

The meeting is intended to demand accountability and apply pressure on Israel, which Lebanon accuses of disregarding laws and continuing its attacks.

Cross-border clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have occurred almost daily since the Gaza conflict began.

Lebanon’s Civil Defense director, Brigadier General Raymond Khattar, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to Mohammad Amasha, who was seriously injured and undergoing surgery at Tebnin Governmental Hospital.
