The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Comrade Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who had been detained.
Ajaero was granted bail after writing a statement and was released at around 11:00 pm on Monday, September 10.
Reliable sources within the NLC report that Ajaero’s release came after the Labour union threatened to mobilize its affiliate unions for a nationwide protest against the federal government if he was not freed by midnight on Monday, September 9.
Ajaero was arrested on Monday, September 9, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while en route to the United Kingdom for a global Trade Union Congress meeting.
