Unidentified gunmen killed five youths in the Mbar community of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, during an attack on Sunday night. According to a statement by the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, the youths were ambushed while traveling from Mbar to Koh village.
The attackers, believed to be fleeing terrorists on motorcycles, were previously repelled by the military but returned. The Council condemned the attack, describing it as part of ongoing efforts to displace locals from their ancestral lands.
They called for local involvement in security efforts, similar to the civilian joint task force model in other regions. Authorities from the Bokkos Local Government Council visited the victims’ families, offering support.
