A suspected serial fraudster allegedly used a hookup site to lure a victim to an Abuja hotel with the intent to rob her, according to the NSCDC.

After discovering that the woman had no money in her bank account, the suspect stole her Android phone and left the hotel room. As he attempted to flee the premises, his suspicious behavior was noticed. When confronted, he tried to escape but was eventually caught by NSCDC operatives.

Addressing the media, Dr. Odumosu clarified that the viral video of the incident was not recorded by NSCDC operatives, who only became aware of it after it spread on social media. He emphasized that the NSCDC is committed to thoroughly investigating before taking any steps toward prosecuting or handing over a suspect to relevant agencies.

Following the preliminary investigation, both the suspect and the victim will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

The FCT Commandant also urged hotel owners to be more vigilant in protecting their guests and facilities, ensuring that their premises are not used for criminal activities. He condemned the inhumane treatment of the victim and advised young women to avoid engaging in risky behaviors like ‘hookups’ that could endanger their lives.
