Jimi Folarin, a 43-year-old realtor, went missing after a client called him to inspect properties in the Imota area of Ikorodu, Lagos State. According to a report by Vanguard Newspaper, Folarin has managed to escape from a kidnappers’ den. His sister, Omowunmi, previously reported that he left home at 4 PM on Wednesday for the property inspection and had not been reachable since.
However, late on Friday, Omowunmi informed Vanguard that Folarin had escaped from a kidnappers’ den in Sagamu, Ogun State. According to her, Folarin explained that he took a motorcycle to Itamaga to meet a client but was abducted upon arriving. He entered a coaster bus with five armed men who forced him to stay quiet and later took him to a bungalow where he was held with other captives.
While in captivity, Folarin asked to use the toilet and noticed the guards were distracted. He seized the opportunity to escape through a narrow passage, jumped a fence, and fled into a nearby bush. After running for some time, he encountered a woman who helped him realize he was in Sagamu. He then made his way to Ogijo, receiving assistance from others who offered him money after hearing about his ordeal.
Folarin mentioned that while the kidnappers were asking for ransom from other captives, he had not yet been called for ransom before he escaped.
