Sodiq’s account of his final moments with Mohbad after his release from detention had sparked questions. However, in a detailed statement shared on his social media platforms on Monday, Dec. 23, he clarified the timeline of events, stating that he last saw Mohbad alive between 11 am and 12 pm, not at 9 pm as he previously claimed.
Sodiq explained that the emotional distress and anxiety he experienced following Mohbad’s sudden death contributed to the inconsistency in his earlier statement.
He wrote:
“I want to clarify that the last time I saw Mohbad alive was between 11 am and 12 pm. Back in February 2024, after my release from detention, I appeared on Westo’s TikTok livestream to thank everyone who contributed to my release. During the session, Westo asked about the last time I saw Mohbad, and I mistakenly said it was at 9 pm on Monday after we returned from a show.
“That timing was inaccurate. I had been dealing with immense emotional, mental, and physical trauma caused by Mohbad’s unexpected death, which I deeply mourn. I was wrongfully accused of being at Mohbad’s house on the day of his death and was detained at a police station. This affected my mental state, and I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when I gave that response.”
Sodiq reaffirmed that he left Mohbad’s house between 3 pm and 4 pm on September 11, 2023, consistent with his testimony during the Coroner’s Inquest.
He continued:
“I never intended to deceive or mislead anyone about when I last saw Mohbad. I sincerely apologize for any confusion caused by my earlier statement. The last time I saw him alive was between 11 am and 12 pm. I left his house between 3 pm and 4 pm on Monday, September 11, 2023.”
Sodiq also denied discussing the circumstances of Mohbad’s death with social media influencers while in custody, except with Westo and his assistant. He dismissed claims of existing audio recordings or text messages about such conversations as false.
“Mohbad’s untimely death remains deeply painful, and I am still recovering from the trauma. I pray for justice for Mohbad and urge that those responsible for his death be held accountable,” he concluded.
